Who participates?

The Pursuit Extractive Industries Plataform (PSIE) - mining, petroleum and gas- is formed by numerous Catalan organizations and other organizations from the rest of Spain, that have organized their strategies around the problematic around extractive industries.

Objectives

The Platform tries to follow and watch different society and environmental conflicts and tries to influence in commercial problematic and declare the responsibility of the international companies.

· Economical transparency of the oil industry
· Recognition and abolitions of the generated ecological debt
· Translate good environmental practices around the world
· Support to the civil populace: protection of the environmental activists and denunciation of particular cases and communities
· Watch to the public investments that suporte Spanish internacionalitzacion investments in the scope of the extractive industries - mining, petroleum and gas-
· Investigation on the respect of the human rights of the extractive industry

Impacts from the extractive industries

Macroeconomic data show that the development of the extractive industries and the pressure on the natural resources are affecting in a negative form the political and social processes on the South countries, without improvement of the human development.

The information shows that the dependency of petroleum and the mining activity tends to reduce the rates of economic growth and accentuate the deferences among different population lawyers.
